"mamis in manolo, louis vuitton bags, chanel logos"

RIMMEL

SALLY HANSEN

CHANEL
precut logos

at the moment im testing out the boundaries - in terms of both the borderline between tacky/ghetto fab and classy and also in terms of experimenting with foils and 3d nailart, something id previously not considered as i tend to stick to creme nail colours. so watch out, those posts are soon to come.

in light of my experimentation i am proud to present the chanel mani. this is two coats of rimmels blackout, ive had this paricular pot for years now and the formula is still going strong, isnt gloopy and applies well, more than i can say for the barry m and 17 brand black paints that i also own. the brush is also idealy proportioned. after these dried i applied a thin coat of the best top coat around. this topcoat will fix any smudges or skeedle in your previous coats. its also touch dry in next to no time! before this was dry i used a pair of point tweezers to pick up a chanel logo, position and drop it onto each nail. after about 15 minutes i applied another coat of sally hansen, over the chanel logo to secure it.

i love the effect - pretty much the only bit of chanel i can afford!

BARRY M
nail effects

in keeping with this weekends festivities, i decided upon a halloween manicure to match my skeleton costume of this year. three coats of the nyc white colour, which is a great consistency and easy to apply despite being rather sheer hence needing so many coats. i dont own any other nyc paints so cant comment on the brand in general but price wise its right on the mark. after waiting for it to dry i applied one thin coat, as the instructions detail, of the barry m 'nail effects' which only comes in one colour at the moment, black. this cracks on your nails and leaves you with the effect you see! im very pleased with the end result and know it will add the edge to tomorrows costume!

also, making her debut on the blog is kit, my housemates outrageously cute kitten. excuse the blur but she is one curious cat and doesnt stay still for very long...

happy halloween to y'all.

ILLAMASQUA
blow

illamasqua is a british brand who excel in terms of the variety of colours and consistency of their nail paints.
this is three coats of the somewhat peculiarly named 'blow'. its very much a case of 'what you see is what you get', as the end result is the same colour as it is in the bottle. at just the right thickness and easy to apply which is rare for yellows, im chuffed with it.
